Here’s your fun fact for this Friday: 93% of marketers use social media for business. As an in-house physician recruiter, you may not have thought of yourself as a “marketer” before; but in reality, you are a very important contributor to how your organization is perceived.
You build your employer brand through your job postings, your print ad messages, your social media posts, and all other communication channels you use as part of your recruiting strategies. As with any of your other recruitment strategies, your social media goals should be to:
- Build trust in your organization
- Drive traffic to your jobs
- Be a resource for job-seeking physicians
A few quick tips for using social media as a part of your physician recruitment strategy:
- Do your research. Study what your competition is posting on social media, and how engaged users seem to be. Look at what health care organizations of similar sizes in other areas are doing, too. Choose the channels on which you’ll focus depending on your available resources.
- Set a clear strategy before you start. Develop a clear plan about who from your team will post, what will be posted, and when. Track everyone’s assignments (a spreadsheet is a fine way to start; we use Smartsheet).
- Do not use social media channels for just your job postings. You certainly want to share your PracticeLink jobs on your social media channels, but you also want to provide added value! Engage your audience by sharing resources offered by your or other organizations and helpful articles.
- Choose quality over quantity. Interesting, engaging and applicable content is more important than how many times you post…but it is important that you remain consistent.
If you’re thinking, “I don’t have time to create other value added content myself,” no worries—you can use ours! Follow PracticeLink on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter for physician-centered content you can share.
