4 things you’ll need to know for the 2017 ASPR conference in San Diego

Find me on:

To me, the annual Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) Conference feels like a wedding does for a bride: Months of planning beforehand. Tons of people to speak with during. Then afterwards? You’re lucky if you remember half of it, it’s been such a whirlwind!

PracticeLink is proud to to be an ASPR strategic partner, and we'll once again be exhibiting at the annual conference in San Diego. If you, too, are headed to San Diego, here are a few tips to take with you.

1. The airport is close enough to walk.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt is only 2.7 miles from the San Diego International Airport via North Harbor Drive. The proximity surprised me on my first San Diego trip. The Super Shuttle from the airport was only $10, and a cab wasn’t much more. Disclaimer: I did not check to see if there are sidewalks the whole way, so please don’tactually walk there. Just know that it’s close.

2. The hotel’s on the water…but not on the beach.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt is on the water. But to get to the sand of Coronado Island, your best bet is to take an Uber or a ferry. The ride on the Coronado Ferry takes about 15 minutes, and you can pick it up at the convention center. Fare is $4.75 each way.

3. San Diego has the biggest Little Italy.

San Diego used to be the center of the world’s tuna industry, largely thanks to the Italian immigrants who settled there. Today, Little Italy is a 48-block neighborhood about a mile north of the Manchester Grand Hyatt. You might have time to check out the Mission Federal Artwalk happening there the same weekend as the ASPR conference.

4.  6+6=Yum

This year’s legendary PracticeLink event will be held at the San Diego Culinary Wine and Culinary Center, just down the street from the hotel. We’ve chosen six custom delicacies matched with six custom cocktails—from Spanish Rioja wine to a coconut rum mixer—for a pairing menu guaranteed to make your mouth water.

Whether you’ve never met your PracticeLink service team face-to-face or you’re old friends, you’ll get the chance to catch up at the ASPR Conference! We’re all looking forward to seeing you, and sharing what’s new and what’s next with PracticeLink!
