For the third quarter in a row, “Oncology – Gynecological” is the physician recruitment industry’s hardest specialty to recruit.
The market has gotten even tighter this quarter for those looking to hire gynecologic oncologists. In the summer of 2017, when the specialty reached the top of the Index of the Most Challenging to Recruit Specialties, there were 9 jobs available for every job-seeking candidate. Now, there are 12.
Pediatric intensivists also retained their spot—number two—on this quarter’s Most Challenging list.
Five new specialties made this quarter’s Index:
- Maternal - Fetal Medicine
- Pediatrics - Developmental-Behavioral
- Pediatrics - Child Abuse and Neglect
- Otolaryngology - Otologist
- Pediatrics - Physical Medicine and Rehab
The PracticeLink Physician Recruitment Index is a quarterly comparison of the availability of both jobs and candidates in the PracticeLink system. It’s a relative indication of the ease or difficulty of a job or candidate search—information that can help physician recruiters understand the physician job market, plan and allocate resources.
