283 hardest to recruit specialties

As the marketing manager for PracticeLink, I am constantly analyzing my marketing strategy. By doing this, I am able to change my strategy for optimal performance. As a physician recruiter, you probably adjust your physician recruitment strategy in a similar way. When you have an opportunity in a hard-to-recruit specialty, you adjust the way you source for candidates.

Did you know that every quarter, we analyze the PracticeLink database to determine the ease or difficultly of recruitment for various specialties?

What are the hardest-to-recruit specialties?

We base this information on the supply and demand gathered by the PracticeLink system and compile it into two quarterly infographics, free to all physician recruiters. The hardest to recruit specialties are those with the most jobs posted on PracticeLink with the lowest number of candidates in those specialties.

For the fifth quarter in a row, “Oncology – Gynecological” has held strong at the top of the list as the physician recruitment industry’s hardest-to-recruit specialty.

This quarter, six new specialties have been added to the index, including four pediatric subspecialties.

What to do next?

After reading the Index, ask yourself:

1. Does this index match my recent experiences of recruiting for various specialties?
2. Do I have unposted job opportunities to which I need to devote more resources and search time?
