These 15 physician specialties are the most in demand this winter

When it comes to physician recruitment, knowing the state of the overall market can help.

Recruiters who are aware of the relative ease or difficulty of a search can allocate their resources, time and tactics accordingly.

The quarterly PracticeLink Physician Recruitment Index helps physician recruiters evaluate their opportunities, searches and job responses within a larger context.

In the newest Most In-Demand Specialties Index, the top 5 specialties remain unchanged since last quarter—the third quarter in a row where they’ve retained their rank.

This marks the seventh quarter in a row that Neurology has been at the top of the Most In-Demand Specialties Index.

The demand for Hospitalists decreased this past quarter, but only by four spots on the Index. Hospitalists are still on the list of the top 15 most in-demand specialties, coming in at number 12.

A number of specialties moved just one slot throughout the Index:

Cardiology and Hematology and Oncology have remained on the Most In-Demand Index since joining in Summer 2017.

The physician specialties that appear on this quarterly Index of the Most In-Demand Specialties are the specialties with 
the most jobs posted on PracticeLink, and are then ranked by hardest to recruit.
