The hardest physician specialties to recruit this Fall

Physician recruiters finding it more difficult to recruit gynecologic oncologists lately aren't imagining things.

The specialty claimed the top spot of the most challenging to recruit specialties this summer according to the quarterly PracticeLink Physician Recruitment Index. 

PracticeLink's Physician Recruitment Index is an indication of the relative ease or difficulty of recruitment for various specialties based on supply and demand information gathered by the PracticeLink system quarterly. 

This quarter's results were just announced in the PracticeLink Physician Recruitment Newsletter.

Last quarter, surgery-neurocritical care took the top spot of the Index of the most challenging specialties to recruit.

Six specialties are new to the Index this quarter: 

  • Pediatrics - Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Pediatrics - Ophthalmology
  • Pediatrics - Emergency medicine
  • Radiology - Tele
  • Pediatrics - Otolaryngology
  • Pediatrics - Physical Medicine & Rehab
